Between Amarillo and Tascosa, the ghost lights were first reported in the earlier half of this century.
AUSTIN
Home of the state capitol, the city of Austin is named after the "Father of Texas" Stephen F. Austin. Austin brought the first 300 settlers from the United States of America to help the Mexican government "tame" the frontier. Rich in history, Austin is also rich in ghostlore.
B Side Bar/Bitter End Bistro & Brewery
Dark figures are seen moving between the bar and the bathroom. One night, when the manager was alone and closing the bar, all of the bar stools that had been pushed under the bar were mysteriously pushed a couple of feet away from the bar.

14th and Guadalupe. The building used to be a general store and the ghost of the former owner doesn't seem to want to leave.
Carrington's Bluff
A TV without a remote turns on and off, and one guest got his hair shampooed by the ghost!

The sounds of a ghostly party have been heard coming from an upstairs banquet room.

Driskill Hotel
Colonel Driskill smokes cigars and turns on the lights in upper floor guest rooms. The deceased daughter of a senator bounces a ball and giggles down the grand staircase. Mrs. Bridges rearranges invisible flowers in the lobby. Be careful getting off the elevator - you may run into Mr. Lawless checking his watch. "Suicide Bride #1" has been spotted in the balcony level ladies' room - peering under stalls. "Suicide Bride #2", who recently died in the hotel, has been seen emerging from the elevator on the fourth floor of the traditional side - arms loaded with packages. The elevators are the focus of all kinds of paranormal activity. The Driskill is probably Texas' most haunted hotel.
Fado Irish Pub
214 West 4th Street, Austin. Formerly the Capitol City Playhouse Theater, and doesn't every theater have atleast one ghost? Activity may have stopped, now, though, since it's now an Irish pub.
Governor's Mansion
The nephew of Governor Murrah still haunts the North Bedroom where he committed suicide.
The Hideout
Faucets turn on and off, locked gates open, and the main breaker was tripped during renovation for no apparent reason.
HighLife Cafe
An apparition appears in both blue and white. A stereo system has turned itself on. Also, a mysterious light show appeared during a bachelor party.

Lights have come on even when there was no power to the building. An apparition, believed to be Stella Snider, has been seen carrying and rocking a very ill child.
Jensen Auditorium
University of Texas Campus, Austin. Pianist and professor Dallis Franz still visits with the students.
Littlefield Building
Next door to the Driskill Hotel. Elevators operate by themselves and quit for no reason. Footsteps are heard on upper floors at night when no one is there. At the moment, we do not know who might be haunting the building, but perhaps the Driskill ghosts are paying a visit next door.

On 6th St. Swinging glasses and doors and loud cackling on the 2nd flor are attributed to a man who died when the building was a coffee refinery.

Col. Neill has been seen riding his horse around the mansion, and having tea on the porch with a spectre identified as Robert E. Lee. Footsteps have also been heard at night when no one is there.
Old Spaghetti Warehouse
An entire family of apparitions has been spotted after closing in one of the trolley cars. It is right next door to the Bitter End - maybe they share more than walls.
Old Stone Ridge Road
When driving toward the children's cemetery with lights off, strange things happen, including door locks going up and down (even the manual locks).
Paramount Theatre for the Performing Arts
Strange lights are seen in the projection room, and one employee reported an "old hag" experience there.
Speakeasy's
The front doors bang, followed by the sound of someone rushing up the stairs, then there is a knocking on the walls followed by a scream. Sometimes the scream is heard by itself.

12th and Lamar. Haunted by the ghost of a prostitute named Emily.
UT Tower
From July 31 to August 1, 1966 Charles Whitman went on a rampage that resulted in the deaths of 17 people, including himself. On the night of July 31 he murdered his mother in her apartment, and in the early hours of August 1 he stabbed his wife to death. By 12 noon on the 1st he had made his way up to the observation deck of the tower and began to open fire on the South Mall. Fatalities occurred on the South Mall, by the Computation Center to the east of the Tower, on The Drag section of Guadalupe, and inside the Tower itself. At 1:24 pm Whitman was shot to death by Austin PD and DPS officers, ending the massacre. In 1975 the Observation Deck was closed to the public due to the number of suicides. It was reopened in September 1999 with high fencing and metal detectors. Now, the lights have been known to turn themselves on when the building is vacant, but they will turn off again if guards ask Charlie to behave.
West Lake Hills
A phantom wagon rampages through this upscale suburb.

1510 Toomey Rd. Haunted by unidentified spirits. Lots of poltergeist activity.

Texas coastal town - "The Sparkling City by the Sea." Home to the Days Inn where Tejano star Selena was shot to death. It is also where Marshall Applewhite, leader of the Heaven's Gate cult, grew up.

Near a naval base, reports of paranormal activity include spectral wolves and transparent Native Americans.
Blackbeard's on the Beach
Despite what is printed on the menu, Col. Platt maintains that he demolished the original building in 1962. Moving chairs, roving cold spots and jumping salt shakers could be caused by one of two people. The ghost could be that of a man who who was killed in a fight over a woman, or that of a man who committed suicide nearby after losing his wife.

The Lady in Green might be Senora Garcia, wife of Marcelino Garcia, who died when the Texicans took the fort.

Swiss Ave. Painting of young girl haunted by "good" spirit. Rumor has it that several workers were killed during the construction and now haunt the building, and a man in a dark suit haunts the audience seating area. The theater is now a nightclub.

A wife and child were supposedly killed here and now you can see blood on the walls and feel cold spots.
Lizard Lounge
A "man in black" haunts the old audience seating area, and unknown spirits have wreaked havoc in the dressing rooms when it was a theater.

For years, a female presence has been felt on the second floor of this historic home, near the nursery.

Combs Creek - a little girl was hit by a train while riding her bike, and now her spirit is seen on this street as she rides on.

A large group of spirits dressed in early 20th century clothing has been spotted moving north in the area between Beltline and Spring Valley.

Greenville Ave. An unidentified spirit showed up after the building was remodeled.

Doors slam, paintings fall off of walls, and voices and children's laughter echo when no one is there. A male and female pair of apparitions have also been spotted.

Thought to be the site of a long-gone crematorium and funeral parlor (and intermittenly various bars and clubs), voices have been heard when no one was around, videos would fly off shelves in the DJ booth, and a female apparition has been seen on the dance floor. The bar on an adjacent lot has a constant repulsive smell that no one can explain.
University of North Texas
